Another attraction is the Mysore Dasara festival during which the Palace is illuminated with nearly one lakh LED lights that make it look like a masterpiece made out of gold. The ten days long celebrations take place every year in the months of September or October. Many colourful and extravagant events and concerts are organized in the palace complex during this period. The highlight of the festival is the ‘Jambo Savari,’a procession on the final day of the festival, in which, the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari is carried on an elephant from the royal palace to a place called Bannimantap. All through the journey, people rejoice over the triumph of the Goddess over a demon.
