Driving through the forest roads on a bright summer day under the beautiful canopy of Sal trees is a scenic experience that you can enjoy while you are on a safari in the Rajaji National Park in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Spread over 820 sq kilometers in the forested foothills of the city, this national park is one adventurous ride that you should not miss.
The safari traverses through some really incredible landscapes of dry riverbeds, which at some point may have been inundated with free flowing water. Tourists also visit this national park for the thrill of the uneven and treacherous terrains. Maneuvering through ravines and a few challenging river crossings will give you an instant rush of adrenaline. And if you get to spot a tiger or a heard of the famous Asian elephants on your way, what could be more exhilarating! Other sightings include the peacock, the leopard, deers, boars and host of stunning birds.
For the more ardent adventurers, you could also plan to stay overnight in the forest guesthouse that’s located deep inside the green cover. Spending a night in the eco-friendly accommodations in the wilderness, with the sound of the river Ganga flowing by, simply takes the overall experience to a whole new level. And guess what! A night safari too is possible to explore the wild in the dark.
