Despite its colonial past, Dharamshala has Tibetan influences with many monasteries and temples. Start your journey in Lower Dharamshala, the busy hub, at the Kangra Art Museum which is a window to the history of the region. Climb uphill to Gangchen Kyishong, where the exiled Tibetan government has found home. Further up in Upper Dharamshala, the tourist magnet McLeod Ganj is a favourite, particularly because it is the residence of Dalai Lama who found sanctuary here in 1960.
You can easily get used to the peace and quiet in this mountain town. Go on nature walks, trek to the Triund Hill, or simply enjoy the view with a cup of tea in your hand – the mountains and the valley will charm you with their eternal chatter.
