Interestingly, the Shikara communities have lived on houseboats and shikaras at Dal for a very long time and the lake has everything from vegetables shops to doctors.
The floating gardens on the periphery of the lake are a lovely sight with a blanket of green vegetation on the surface of the waters. There’s a sprinkle of lilies and lotuses on the lake in spring, and you can buy bouquets for your partner from the floating shops.
