Restoring Dignity, Creating Opportunity

Our Flagship Initiative

Project Arman – Children of Nizamuddin

The Challenge:

In the Nizamuddin area of Delhi, entire families survive as waste-pickers—adults and children alike spend their days collecting and sorting through garbage. For these children, education seems like an impossible dream, perpetuating a generational cycle of poverty.

Our Solution:

Project Arman is Shaping Lives’ nodal CSR initiative, providing informal education to 160 children of waste-pickers. We’ve created a safe learning environment where children receive:

  • Daily education focused on literacy and numeracy
  • Life skills and mentoring to envision futures beyond waste-picking
  • Nutritional support
  • Healthcare monitoring
  • Extracurricular activities that build confidence

Annual Investment: ₹550,000 (approximately $7,000 USD)

Project Arman

The Impact:

These children are learning to dream. Many have transitioned to formal schooling. Parents are beginning to see education as a viable path for their children —a profound shift in generational expectations.

How You Can Help:

  • Sponsor a teacher: ₹2,500/month
  • Sponsor an annual summer camp: ₹25,000
  • Donate computers, stationery, or educational materials
  • Share Project Arman’s annual operating costs
