It is said that Mahatma Gandhi himself spent the last 144 days of his life in this place, before being assassinated by Nathuram Godse in a public presence. Being originally the home of Birla industrial family, this place is now a proud museum where belongings and memories from Gandhi’s life have been kept on exhibition.
Established in 2005, this museum is now a full on multimedia exhibit, frequented by travellers from across the globe. Owned by Ghanshyam Das Birla, this land was purchased by government of India and then converted into the museum. Being a popular friend of Birla’s, Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel used to stay there during their Delhi visits.
